Hunter: Regular Working, Conformation
English Pleasure
American bred, Tony is a lethal hunter. He may be quiet, the type that
keeps to himself, but truthfully Tony is more than just an innocent, pretty Thoroughbred
... he's a regular ticking bomb. As a yearling, this intensity had him instantly marked
for the track. His color may have raised a few eyebrows, but now and forever Tony is a
competitor first, and their were no more jokes about the 'white elephant' racer after he
stole first place in his maiden race - leaving the other two year olds minutes behind him.
But don't get me wrong, because Tony is anything but a vicious horse - the complete
opposite, in fact. He's sensitive and sweet, the kind of horse that adores attention. Even
during his racing career there was never any fear for young children playing under his
hooves.
Retired from his successful career at five, Tony was sold to a rehoming facility. There he
was retrained as a hunter, and eventually wormed his way into ORC. He has excellent
conformation, with an exquisite head and neck combined with lots of personality. It's his
personality I've found to be his greatest asset, since Tony is gentle enough to be
pastured with several geldings and even colts. There's no grudge on his powerful
shoulders, nor hate or anger... Tony is just a happy guy that has proven to be extremely
friendly with everyone, and is an angel in the ring. He's just so relaxed and mellow, a
trait often passed to his babies. There is just so much good to this superb stallion, it's
hard to get everything said!
To sum him up: he'll always pass on the dilute gene, is gentle and meek - to the point
where he is used as a lesson horse for our experienced students, and is built like a damn
truck. The possibility of him being an all-around competitor has always been kicked
around, but never taken up as he's just so pretty to watch when he moves... and it helps
to keep him focused, less he lose some of that flashy motion. Tony is unique in that he is
fully clicker trained using positive reinforcement, and was broken using many of the same
methods by his breeder. It's an interesting way to show a horse, and makes experiences
with Tony all the more unique.
