Jess is very dainty, with a sleek body and beautiful babydoll head. Everything about her just says doll-like and fragile... though I assure you, Jess is anything but fragile. She does have a meek way of doing things, never starting fights when she can help it and doing her best to go unnoticed, but there'sa wild side to this demure filly. Once, when she thought she was all alone in one of the back pastures, I witnessed an odd sight. Here was my darling, gentle lamb trotting to the fence. She turned around, scratched at the ground a bit like a professional bullfighter, then charged into the green pasture, soaring across ten acres as if it were nothing more than three steps. She was so glorious then, giddy on the speed. She'd done what most two year old Thoroughbreds hardly could, and she did it effortlessly with a joyful grin. If I'd ever had any shadow of a doubt about putting her on the track, I lost them on that sunny morning.

Of course, the second she saw me her dark eyes went wide with embaressment and she bashfully lowered her head as she wandered over, her long legs like pillars in the unmown grass. It seems she'd always been containing herself, playing the doll so that we could exclaim over her delicate features, her grace and elegance. Even though she still tries to be as feminine as she can, you now can see the fierce heart behind those helpless eyes, the roaring rush of excitement she feels stirring in her soul every second of every day. It has made me love the darling girl even more, for I can respect her hesitation, understand it. She's afraid of displeasing anyone, and thus keeps herself on a tight chain. I only hope that she'll be able to free herself this year without worrying about disappointing me, since I'm thrilled with the idea of having that wild filly I saw in the pasture that day stick around.

Kat. Bred. Nameless.
