Beautiful, sexy vixen that she is, was spotted at the famous Scottsdale shows in Arizona. She'd been placing well, despite an inexperienced handler, and it was clear to everyone watching that she was utterly self-confident, the pinnacle of arrogance. A shift shake of her chisled head, before that amazing gait of hers was put into action. She strutted, actually strutted, like a sleek tomcat. Her coat was a high gloss black, almost blinding to the eye, but all I was concerned about was the smug satisfaction on her lips when she placed first. I was utterly smitten with the demanding diva, and it was evident to my fellow ORC staff that we'd be driving back home with another horse.

Uncertain how to approach, I wandered over as casually as possible. Beauitful was giving her owners some trouble, and had smashed the foot of her handler. While the boy yelped and hopped around like a mutated bullfrog, two women, dressed to the nines, tried in vain to steady this wild mare before she got out of hand. Having little knowledge of horses or any experience, aside from taking a picture or two with the blue ribbon, they were failing miserably. In a bold move, I went ahead and snatched her lead rope, which they'd left dangling. I was fully prepared for a kick to the face, instead I got two fierce hugs and a curious look in my direction - the latter of which coming from Beautiful. Thanks were heaped upon me, followed by complaints about this exotic mare. Taking my cue, I bought her on the spot.

Driving home the next day, I was content with life. Opening up the trailer, preparing to bed everyone down for the night, I started to doubt my good intentions. Beautiful, being a domineering mare, had managed to get loose and had crowded all of our other mares and fillies into the far corner, and wheeled around defiantly when I'd opened the door. Thankfully, she didn't bolt, as Beautiful feels that bolting is highly over-rated and unladylike. You don't know how much I love her vanity. All in all though, despite her many problems, I adore this French-bred and named mare. From that long neck and proudly held head, from teacup ears to her dished face, I even like the prissy way she avoids mud puddles and rain.
